Help! Convert .mus file to MIDI?

A client gave me something called a .mus file, that I guess comes from Finale or something? I gather it is like a MIDI file. I've looked and looked for a converter, but all the links seem old and dead, etc. One time I thought I had something, it wouldn't run on Win 7.

Can anyone convert this to .mid for me or point me to conversion software?

Yep-Finale. You should tell people not to be sending you ****e formats!
Download this and save as a midi file- I think it accepts .mus files

Got it - installed it - ran it ... and no joy ...

It seems to open it's own sample files with .mus extension, but says it can't open the .mus file they gave me - must be something goofy about it.

Oh well ... best shot I've had yet. I just wrote them and tole 'em that they need to get me a MIDI file.

Send it to me-I'll have a go at it, if they are not forthcoming, but it sounds corrupt.

Tried it-no go. Bad file, I think, or proprietry to Finale.

Just saw this. I am a Finale user. Send it to me and I will convert it for you. I use .mus files all the time.

OK - I got it ... I downloaded a demo copy of Finale Songwriter and it loaded into that. It also had a "Save as" MIDI option - so VOILA!

Risky biz. eh....trial copies. Never know what changes they'll make. Handy sometimes tho'
