Hi,
The CD player/writer on my D1200Mkii will no longer play any CDs. I either get an error saying "No Disc!" (no matter which CD I try), or it says "Drive Condition Error" whenever I try to play a CD. I have just cleaned it and it is still doing this. Is it likely the CD writer is kaput? If so, how do I go about getting a replacement? ...and does anyone know how much they cost? Also, I was using the CD player for reference monitoring, so what would be my best option for an alternative? Thanks in advance, Darren

I don't really know the answer to your question but if you need a new drive, check out this thread.

Kelly:
I think his problem is with the CD/RW in the D1200 MKII, not the hard drive. Still good information to know though!!

I just did a search of the D1200 forum using the key work "CDRW". I got about seven discussions, including some of my own waxing and waning on the subject from back in '07.
Unfortunatly, it looks like the D1200 mkII may use the same CDRW that the Korg XD machine I used to have used. I tried many places to find a replacement and was never able to find one. I am pretty sure it was a Panasonic model OEM'ed for laptop computers. I remember on the XD, when you first removed it, you couldn't see any labeling on the drive. That is becuase it is housed inside a sleeve. I was able to easily unscrew the tiny screws that held the sleeve around the drive with a jeweler's screw driver. Once out of the sleeve, I was able to get the manufacturer and model number. If the D1200 mkII is the same, you may be able to get the drive information and search the web for an exact replacement. You will not likley find a new drive, but you may be able to find a remanufactured replacement. Take a look, it may not be that difficult to identfy the exact make and model with a little inquisitive tinkering. Let us know what you find. Good luck!!!!

Hey man, at least you are trying to help, right. I wish I had a nickel for every post I have misread here and then proceeded with a solution that made alsoletely no sense.
Come to think of it, I do that a lot at work too!!! ![]() Doh!!! Do I detect a pattern here?
