Thread: D1600 or D1600mkii

    Default D1600 or D1600mkii

What is the difference between the D1600 and the D1600mkii? I am considering buying one or the other. All the D1600s I am considering have the 40G CD writer factory installed.
Oh, I already know that the D1600 is silver and the D1600mkii is blue.
    Thank you.

The D1600 had a SCSI connector on the backside, and the D1600mkII replaced the SCSI with a USB connector.
Also, I believe the internal harddrive went from 20Gb standard to 40Gb.

(sorry, to revive such a thread from the past... but I'm feeling helpful. )

Geez... the post was from 2005 and you finally filled in the blank? :-)
That mkii USB port was like putting in a door, when the original D1600 only had a window. Wish I had the blue one... I've still got the silver model.

The "blue one" is beautiful Len.....

The D1600 (version 2) I've owned for some years now and it's a
beautiful machine as well. In some ways I'm partial to it because even
with problems I've experienced with it sometimes-(some more nerve racking
than others) I've always managed to be able to fix those problems
myself(!) - one way or another. But if I was starting from scratch,
I'd probably go for the D1600mkII, because it has some extra features
on it like "Disc at once" which my version doesn't have. Both the silver and
blue colors I think are just great. Perhaps Korg will put out machines
in RED one day?.. that would be quite nice to!-
